Red Itchy Hot Swollen Skin Patches

I have been experienceing skin issues for over 7 years now. Doctors have not made a definite diagnosis but they range from allergies to fibromyalgia. I get large raised hard hot red patches on my skin. They itch prior to and while they are there. They can also be painful and cause limited movement when in bendable areas such as hands, legs, and feet. I mostly notice getting them after using a pair of scissors for more than 10 min. or holding a hose sprayer. Shortly after, my hand will itch and then swell and be red and hot to the point to where it is hard to close my fist. Another example is if I wear jeans that are a little tight by the middle of the day the area around my waist will become red, itchy, hot, and swollen. It affects my feet as well. They will itch become red, swollen and hard, and hot to touch.
I take Zyrtec and have noticed a decrease in the symptoms. I have never had it as severe as I have read - if you write on your skin it will swell to see the writing. I was wondering if there are varying degrees on dermographism and if what I am experiencing could be it? Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope to hear a reponse from you soon, and maybe finally getting some closure to my mysterious skin ailment.
The symptoms of dermatographism are not experienced to the same degree by different individuals. It seems that your symptoms develop when the skin is subjected to pressure which is classic dermatographism. Perhaps in your case, the pressure needs to be for a longer period of time. In summary, it is possible you have it, but you should make sure the symptoms your are experiencing are not a sign of some other health problem.
