Nystatin and Triamcinol Acetonide for Skin Rash

by Anonymous

This past summer I got a groin rash. It was not itchy but the area did get reddish especially in the folds and at the very top of the inner thighs. I went to a dermatologist and she gave me a cream called Nystatin and Triamcinol Acetonide. It did improve a lot but I called her after a few weeks and said that there was still a slight irritated feeling on the top inner thigh and sometimes a pinkish color. Anyway she told me to stop using the cream for about 2 weeks and come in and she would take a scrape of the skin to further see if maybe a different treatment would be required. I was thinking it was fungal and maybe because I did not go to doctor when it first appeared but rather tried treating myself, now it may be a little harder to totally eliminate.

Any comments would be appreciated. I do have another appointment about the end of next week.

Thanks for Response
by: Anonymous

Thank you Arcane for your response. You are right it seems to flair up in warmer weather. But right now mine seems to be under control. I will take some of the advice you got about keeping the area dry and also I got some cream for skin chafing from Monistat. It goes on like a cream and then turns into a kind of powder. If mine flairs again I will go back to my dermatologist but for now it seems under control. I too need to lose a few pounds and maybe that will make a difference and am in the process of working on that. But I am not really a lot overweight but losing 20 pounds won't hurt. Let me know how you are doing.

Skin Rash
by: Anonymous

I have experienced the same thing. I was also prescribed the same cream, which also cleared mine up but after having to refill it twice, since it was only a small tube. But then we had one warm, nice day in the fall, and it seemed to appear to come back, but only for a couple days. The doctor told me to keep it dry, which I do with powder. I have also had it under my arm pit and breasts. It just makes me wonder if it is hormonal related also. It makes me wonder if I'm going to have to treat this the rest of my life. I was told to lose wieght and that would help, so I know how you feel.
